FREE SMOKE DETECTORS
The Brighton Area Fire Department has
launched an initiative to ensure that there is at least one working smoke
detector in every residence in the City of Brighton, Brighton and Genoa
Township. Brighton fire fighters will come to your home at no charge and
install a working smoke detector. Installation takes only fifteen minutes.
This program is available only to residents of the
City of Brighton, Brighton Township and Genoa Township.

The
U.S. has one of the highest fire death rates in the industrialized world. In
2000, fire killed more Americans than all natural disasters combined, and direct
property loss was estimated at 11 billion. Of all fire fatalities, 80% occur in
the home, and of those approximately 85% occur in single-family homes and
duplexes.

The Brighton Area
Fire Department offers free fire safety, fire extinguisher and first aid
training. CPR training can be done for a charge, call
or email for a price listing to any
resident or business within the fire district .
Community groups, businesses, schools, and children's organizations will receive
a presentation tailored to their specific need at no cost. Residents or
businesses may also request Freddie the Fire Truck or an actual fire engine to
visit gatherings such as a block party or promotional event at a retail outlet.
